Since its recent boundary extension, Ruaha is now the largest park in Tanzania and part of a truly massive megawilderness with several adjoining game reserves. The park has just a handful of tented camps all of which are concentrated in one small sliver of the park.
This leaves us an endless system of woodlands and rivers to explore in true privacy. We feel Ruaha is one of the best remote wildlife opportunities with its unprecendented size, few visitors and exceptional wildlife densities.
Ruaha's wilderness zones forbid roads or any tourism access except for our lightweight walking safaris. Often we focus on the river areas with hippos, crocs, elephants and all else. We also venture deep into the endless miombo woodlands for what we feel may be the deepest remote bush immersion there is. For a trip back to the days when the bush was devoid of tourism and full of wildlife, then this is the place to go.
