FAMILY safaris

Exciting. Educational. Eye-opening. Fun.

Our own kids have enjoyed the bush ever since they could walk. Unravelling the natural world before their eyes is the best part of being guides. Whether you are a 6 year old, a teenager or a parent, you don’t want to be cooped up in a vehicle for two weeks. Instead – let’s get our hands dirty and have some good, old fashioned fun.

We give kids an eye-opening, educational experience that will stay with them for years.

To walk the bush, examine tracks, stalk zebra or sleep in treetops over waterholes are truly formative experiences for children. We expose them to different cultures whether shooting off arrows with the Maasai or picking wild fruits with the Hadza.

Some highlights for families:

• A private safari with your own guide, vehicle and tented camp

• See tons of animals – lions, elephants, hippos and all the rest (including ‘Pumba’!)

• Learn to shoot arrows with the Maasai

• Learn to make fire with traditional fire-sticks

• Stalk the ‘gentle giants’ on foot like giraffes, zebras and warthogs with your guide

• Learn tracking with local Hadza hunter-gatherers

• Eat tasty, healthy food and stargaze from safe, kid-friendly private camps.

• Enjoy large, interconnected rooms at lodges so parents and kids have separate rooms but are safely connected and under one roof.

• Cap it off at a lodge with a swimming pool or, better yet, the beaches of Zanzibar!

TAKE THE WHOLE FAMILY: MULTI-GENERATIONAL SAFARIS

Each year we enjoy many 'multi-generational' family groups of 8-15 people, from grandparents on down to grandkids. We plan for all camps to be private to just your family. This is ideal for a celebration, holiday or anniversary and we love the fun nature of these trips.

PRICING: much of the price is determined by the specific itinerary and the level of camp or lodge you stay in. We have luxury safaris and also some very affordable family safaris as well. There are also healthy discounts for children.
