Hadza hunter-gatherers during a Thornton Safaris' walking tour in Yaeda Valley.

Walking with the Hadza hunter-gatherers

ThIS IS NO HAMMED-UP CULTURAL TOURISM. WE PREFER THE QUIET APPROACH.

Join traditional Hadza hunter-gatherers as they hunt, dig for tubers, craft arrows and forage for honey, berries and baobab fruits. Witness expert tracking and an intimate understanding of the bush, with people completely in-tune with their environment. Reflect on your own life, as you enter a world that is non-materialistic, egalitarian and, frankly, quite content. Maybe we are not so smart after all?

Yaeda Valley is the remote heartland of the Hadza people. As guides we are ever-wary of the risks of unthoughtful cultural tourism. In Yaeda we work through a long standing partnership with them to provide a meaningful cultural connection for our guests and a respectful, positive benefit for the Hadza and their efforts to protect their land and livelihood.

We are in awe of how smoothly and seamlessly everything came together. You organized this amazing trip for us, down to the last detail, and then you also are leading safari trips? It was really so epic. Besides the animals, plants, and birds, we just fell in love with the people of Africa. It really was the trip of a life time. Thank you again and again.
